Atticus has captured the hearts and minds of nearly 700k followers. In this second collection of poetry, he turns his attention to the dualities of our lived experiences. The inescapable connections between our highest highs and lowest lows. He captures the infectious energy of starting a relationship, the tumultuous realities of commitment, and the agonizing nostalgia of being alone again. While grappling with the question of how to live with purpose and find meaning in the journey, these poems offer both honest explorations of loneliness and our search for connection, as well as light-hearted, humorous observations. As Atticus writes poignantly about dancing, Paris, jazz clubs, sunsets, sharing a bottle of wine on the river, rainy days, creating, and destroying, he illustrates that we need moments to fully appreciate all that life and love have to offer.

My dear Marwan, I look at your profile in the glow of this moon, my boy, your eyelashes like calligraphy, closed in guileless sleep. And I say to you, „Hold my hand. Nothing bad will happen.‟ On a moonlit beach a father speaks to his sleeping son of his childhood days, recalling his grandfather‟s house outside Homs in Syria, the stirring of olive trees in the breeze, the bleating of his grandmother‟s goat. And he remembers Homs, the bustling city with its crowded lanes, its mosque and grand souk, before the sky spat bombs and they had to flee. When dawn breaks they and those around them will embark on a perilous sea journey in search of a new home

In 1807, Charles Lamb and his sister Mary wrote a collection of stories retelling twenty of Shakespeare's plays for children. While making sure that the pieces were accessible for a younger audience, they took care to stay faithful to the language and vocabulary of the Bard as much as possible.
Ranging from the high drama of Romeo and Juliet to the delightful fancy of A Midsummer Night's Dream and the humor of As You Like it, this collection of vivid adaptations - here presented in a lavish new edition - has been a much loved children's classic for more than two hundred years, offering budding readers an accessible route to Shakespeare's works.

Lady Anne (1989) is one of Krog's most acclaimed poetry collections. In an attempt to make sense of her own existence, Krog compares her own life in the midst of a world of racial injustice to that of the life and times of Lady Anne Barnard, of Scottish descent, during her stay in the Cape Colony in the late eighteenth century. Gradually the two voices intertwine and merge, highlighting the complexity of marriage but ultimately also that of a colonial legacy - still relevant 28 years later.

Milk and Honey is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. About the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity.
The book is divided into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose. Deals with a different pain. Heals a different heartache. Milk and Honey takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look.

in a burning sea: Contemporary Afrikaans Poetry in Translation aims to address a long-standing need to introduce Afrikaans poetry to a local as well as international audience. While a number of translated works have, in recent years, been made available to the wider South African readership, only a handful of high-profile individuals continue to enjoy international recognition. This anthology is a collection of poems from contemporary poets who are actively writing and publishing and whose work is a good reflection of the current trends evident in Afrikaans literature. The editor hopes it will go some way towards remedying the present lack of exposure and encourage future publications offering translations of writing also representative of the broader traditions of historical and twentieth-century Afrikaans poetry.
In compiling the anthology, the editor approached poets who had published at least a second volume of poetry in the years from 2005 to 2011. Some poems were unpublished at the time of the selections but have found a subsequent home in more recent volumes of poems. Individuals were asked to submit up to ten poems; some offered their own translations, but for the remainder she made use of a panel of excellent English translators. In each case the poet worked in close collaboration with the translator of his or her choice.

Antjie Krog's readers will welcome her bold and stirring new collection of poetry, her first in 8 years. Themes such as language, memory and conscience are addressed with honesty and a remarkable intensity.
The poems reflect her deep attachment to her homeland and her continuing involvement with this country's complex history and people. At the same time she is redefining her identity as an Afrikaans poet, experimenting in some poems with the distortion of language. Krog wrote in a recent article about her use of language: 'I also wanted to cultivate a vocabulary of caring, to bring about a radical discursive encounter not intended to reduce, but to open, through a struggle with language, a vision on an ethical landscape.'
The collection includes moving poems about family - those ties that bind us, also to the generations before and after. There are also painful, disturbing poems which voice the poet's anger at the inequalities and injustices of our society There are poems which allow us to listen differently to some of the voices we hear around us every day. And there are poems about growing old and about parting and dying. Of these the eulogy on Nelson Mandela is a highlight.

Antjie Krog selects from her most recent poems and also from the poems that best represent her work from across a long career.Part One of Skinned contains poems about writing, family and love. The poems in the second part are from the epic poem based on the life of Lady Anne Barnard, and were written during the height of apartheid, while Part Three offers extracts from several speakers who lived in them and before the likes of Lady Anne arrived. Krog includes here re-workings of Bushmen narratives, as well as translations of oral Sepedi, Xhosa and Zulu praise poems. Part Four represents the political turmoil of South Africa and the divisions within Africa, while Part Five includes recent poems that have to do with the betrayals of the body as we age. Including new poems alongside previously published ones from across the decades, Skinned explores the necessity of 'a change of tongue' in order to be.

Dubbed the South African Sylvia Plath due to the intensity of her work and the tragic course of her turbulent life, Ingrid Jonker is one of the most iconic figures in Afrikaans literature. Posthumously awarded the Order of Ikhamanga by the South African government for 'her excellent contribution to literature and a commitment to the struggle for human rights and democracy in South Africa', the advanced ideas inherent in Ingrid Jonker's poems have made her a recognised literary figure internationally, with her poems being studied, translated and published in many languages.
