Béla Bartók, Ignaz Friedmann, Dinu Lipatti - giants of the piano, born of the music traditions of their respective native Hungary, Poland and Romania, these three extraordinary pianists were lifetime students of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. All three programmed Bach in virtuallly all of their mixed programes, and to them Bach was the beginning, middle and end of what music represents. In essence, their individual transcriptions are thier own personal tributes and pianistic odes to their musical god.
